Mail Services

UMBC Mail Services offers a wide variety of services that is sure to fit each persons own individual needs. At the Retriever Card Center, you can buy postage stamps and packaging materials. The Retriever Card Center is a cashless operation and only accepts the Retriever Card for payment. Our staff will work with you to figure out the best way for you to ship your packages. Domestic Mail

First Class- Anything under 13 oz can be sent through first class mail. Delivery time is generally 1-3 business days.

Priority Mail- Anything weighing over 13 ozs automatically goes Priority. Delivery time is also 1-3 business days.

Priority Mail Express- Priority Mail Express guarantees your mail to be delivered within 1-2 business days. Most locations are delivered overnight. Tracking and up to $100 insurance is included.

Parcel Select Ground- A cost efficient way to send heavy packages. Delivery time is generally 2-8 business days.

Media Mail- A cost efficient way to send text books, film, manuscripts, sound recordings, video tapes, and computer readable media (such as CDs, DVDs, and diskettes). Delivery time is generally 2-8 business days.

International

First Class- Any mail under four pounds may be sent through first class international mail. There are no tracking options with first class. Delivery time varies but is generally about 14 business days.

Priority Mail- Any mail four pounds and over automatically goes Priority. Delivery time is generally 6-10 business days

Priority Mail Express- A fast and secure way to send your mail. Delivery time is generally 3-5 business days. Express Mail international comes with tracking.

Global Express Guaranteed- The fastest way to send international mail. Delivery time is generally 1-3 days. Global Express Guaranteed comes with tracking.

Additional Mailing Services

Delivery Confirmation- Or otherwise known as tracking, allows you to track your package until it reaches it’s destinations. Delivery Confirmation can only be put on parcels. Adding delivery confirmation is free on all First Class, Priority, and Parcel Select Ground packages.

Certified Mail- Certified Mail enables you not only to track your mail, but the recipient must also sign upon delivery. Certified can be attached to any type of mail. The cost to have your mail certified is $3.60 in addition to postage.

Return Receipt- A Return Receipt can be attached to any piece of mail that has been certified, registered, or insured for $200 or more. When you send mail with a Return Receipt, the recipient must sign to receive the mail and you will then get a receipt back with their signature on it. The cost to add a return Receipt is $2.85.

Signature Confirmation- Allows you to get the signature of the person that you’re sending to. The cost of signature confirmation is $3.15.

Registered Mail- Registered Mail allows for maximum security when sending your mail. It allows you to track and verify the date and time the package was delivered. Registered mail begins at $11.70.
